High River is a town south of Okotoks on the Highwood River, in Foothills County. It offers small-town living with access to the foothills and to Calgary by highway.

Figure is for row homes and apartments combined, all bedroom sizes. CMHC rates its High River vacancy estimate as low reliability, so we don't show it. CMHC's Rental Market Survey covers purpose-built rental buildings (apartments and row homes) with three or more rental units. It doesn't include basement suites, rented houses or condos rented by their owners, and rents in new listings are often higher than these averages. Rent and vacancy figures change; check the source for the latest release.

Commute and getting around

Most people drive. Highway 2 is the main route north to Calgary, and the trip is longer than from Okotoks, so check it at rush hour and in winter. Check the Town of High River website for local and regional transit.

Diamond Valley and the foothills nearby

West of Okotoks and High River, the Town of Diamond Valley (formed from Turner Valley and Black Diamond) and the surrounding foothills mostly offer houses and acreages. The foothills section of the acreage guide covers what to check.

Nearby areas

Okotoks is to the north and Diamond Valley is to the west. Calgary is further north on Highway 2.
